Kojic acid is a cosmetic component that lightens the skin. Some dermatologists recommend using low concentrations of kojic acid to address certain forms of acne outside of the exacerbation stage: it is also an antibacterial agent that will prevent Propionibacterium from thriving and reproducing. Kojic acid is also used in cosmetics as a color stabilizer – it helps to maintain the desired shade of a substance for longer.
